Issue 29 open for submissions

Hello,

Issue 29 of From Glasgow to Saturn is now open for submissions! As ever, we’re looking for the very best writing that the University of Glasgow’s students, staff and alumni have to offer.

Our last issue was the first under the new editorial team. We were blown away by the standard of submissions, and we’re excited about reading more of the same. We’re looking for prose, poetry and essays that make us think, that challenge and provoke , dazzle, shock and above all entertain!

The closing date for submissions is 2nd December.

For details of how to submit please visit https://glasgowtosaturn.com/submit-work/

And before submitting, please familiarise yourself with the magazine by visiting https://glasgowtosaturn.com/archive/ where a full archive of all past issues is available.

As well as providing a platform for established writers, this year’s magazines will also give new writers the opportunity to make their publishing debuts, and we exist to help these writers shine.

We look forward to receiving your submissions.

Hello,

We’re delighted to announce that Issue 28 of From Glasgow to Saturn is now available on our website!  To download the issue for free, just visit http://www.glasgowtosaturn.com/latest-issue

The issue is the first under the new editorial team of Shaunagh Jones, Calum Maclean and Kevin Scott, and has a new look. Inside you’ll find the same amazing writing From Glasgow to Saturn has become renowned for. There are tales of missing lockets and deposed planets; naïve crows and awkward chats; surreal shifts and conflicted youth. All of this and so much more.

Enjoy!

Issue 27 now online

We’re delighted, if a little sad, to present our last issue as editors of From Glasgow to Saturn, as we will shortly be handing over to the new editorial team.

Here in  Issue 27  you will find entertaining and thought-provoking work  from the talented creative minds of James Carson, Alan Gillespie, John Horn, Cathy McSporran, Sheila Millar, Louis Pilard, Andreea Ros and Fiona Wilson. We’re also delighted to have captured a Quick View from poet and roofer William Letford. We’ll say no more by way of introduction. Just enjoy.

All that remains now is for us to say a huge thank you to all our contributors and readers, and to invite you all to please give an enthusiastic welcome to From Glasgow to Saturns new editors, Kevin Scott, Calum Maclean and Shaunagh Jones, who will be announcing their plans for the autumn in due course.

Happy reading and goodbye!

Issue 27 open to submissions

Hope you’ve been enjoying the transformation-themed work in Issue 26. The three of us will shortly be handing over the From Glasgow to Saturn editorship to a new team, but we’re determined to squeeze in just one more issue before we go, so without further ado, submissions are now open for Issue 27. No theme this time – anything goes. Submissions will close again on 21st May, and we aim to have this issue online for mid-June. Don’t forget to check out our submission guidelines before you send us your work.

Looking forward to reading!

Issue 26:Transformation online

We’re proud to present Issue 26 of From Glasgow to Saturn, the magazine’s first ever themed issue.

The response to our theme of ‘transformation’ has been fascinating, with so many different interpretations of one single word from so many brilliant writers, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who submitted work for this issue.

What we chose to include in the end was the writing that took us to another place. In some cases this was literal – of the five stories published here, four are set outside of the UK – and in others more figurative, the writer taking us to the darkest recesses of the human experience.

We’re delighted to present to you writing from James Carson, George Craig, John Horn, Vivien Jones, Sarah Lowndes, Gillean McDougall, John O’Donnell, Hayley Rushing, Sandra Webster and JL Williams.  Issue 26 also includes another fascination Quick View interview, this time from ex-police officer and Glaswegian writer Karen Campbell.

Happy reading!
