PS Huge apologies to everyone who received our earlier non-sensical post. Technology ran away with us  for just a moment. Oops!

We’re having a Reading Party!

From Glasgow to Saturn Reading Party

6-8pm, Thursday 1st March

The Anatomy Museum, University of Glasgow

It’s been a long time coming, but we finally got our act together, booked a room and chatted up some lovely writers. A few bits and pieces still to be finalised, but we couldn’t wait to share the news that we’ve bagged a double delight of readings from both  Alan Bissett and Zoë Strachan.  And that for lovers of all things poetic, the wonderful  JL Williams will be presenting some of her amazing work, along with Richie McCaffery, whose poetry recently featured in Issue 24 of From Glasgow to Saturn.

More details, directions and RSVP arrangements to follow shortly, but get that date in your diaries!

FGTS hosts CW Reading Party

From Glasgow to Saturn was asked to host a special Reading Party last week, to welcome the Creative Writing Programme’s new students. The students were treated to fabulous readings from current students, staff & recent graduates (a huge thank you to Elizabeth Reeder, Kerri McLawlin, Emily Munro, Alan Gillespie, Bethany Anderson & Laura Marney).  The evening also featured music from singer-songwriter and GU graduate Jo Mango, and we even made cake.  Thank you to all the CW students who came along and made it such a great evening.  We had fun, so watch this space for details of another FGTS reading party later in the term for all you lovely subscribers and contributors.

Reading Party 24/02/2011

You may have heard rumours but now we can bring confirmation of our much-anticipated reading party. All readers, contributors and subscribers are very welcome to come along.

Anatomy Museum, University of Glasgow

February 24th, 5.30 – 7.30pm

Hosted by Louise Welsh

Starring FGtS contributors: JoAnne Ruby McKay, Duncan Muir,
Raymond Soltysek, Anneliese Mackintosh, and Alan Bissett

Join us in February for an evening of poetry, prose, and comedy. The event will be hosted by Louise Welsh, our Writer in Residence, who will present some of the best literary talents to have studied and worked at the university, from current students to former staff members.

The Anatomy Museum is a deliciously creepy venue, with pickled babies, dissected torsos and, somewhere up the back, a portion of Robert Burns’ skull. So come along to enjoy the readings, soak up the atmosphere, and follow the crowd down to Ashton Lane afterwards for some celebratory drinks.

If you plan on attending, RSVP via fromglasgowtosaturn@glasgow.ac.uk, facebook, or twitter.

Please note that due to budget issues, there be no drinks served, but please do bring your own bottle of something. Glasses will be provided.

Help yourself to a Reading Party Invitation and pass the word around.

Look forward to seeing you all there!
